  • A selection of Erewash pubs have been listed in the 2008 Good Beer Guide.  The book, which was first published in 1974, is the only guide which is annually reviewed by members of the Campaign for Real Ale, who visit local hostelries to sample the quality of ale on offer.  Erewash pubs which are credited are Ilkeston pubs the Dewdrop, Ilford and Needlemakers, Long Eaton’s Hole In The Wall and the Royal Oak are listed, as is the Royal Oak in Ockbrook, the Harrington Arms in Sawley and the White Post Inn in Stanley Common.

  • A new 12 seater minibus has been purchased by a local luncheon club.  Members hope to be able to share the new vehicle with other community groups in the area.  Eventide Luncheon Club bought the minibus to transport housebound and disabled members to functions.  However, the group, which meets at the Eventide Hall, Hayeswood Road, Stanley Common every Monday is seeking other local groups in the Stanley Common and Stanley area. Working with Common Care, a local community forum, the vehicle is available for outings.  For more information, contact Pat Trueman on 0115 944 3442

  • The 10th Ilkeston Scouts are on the look out for new leaders.  The troupe meets once a week at The Bartram Centre in Stanley Common, firstly with Beavers from 6:30pm to 7:30pm on Mondays. Cubs meet on Thursdays from 6:30pm to 8:00pm and Scouts meet on the Mondays from 6:30pm to 7:30pm and on Fridays from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.  You don't need to be experienced to lead, so if you're interested in taking on a new challenge, contact Georgina Halford on 0115 932 2423 for further information.
