Where am I : Programmes (Meet The Team) > Presenters > Jeff Martin

Jeff took interest in the radio scene at an early age, during the heady days of offshore radio, with his favourites being Radio Caroline and Radio London.  Over recent years, Jeff has worked in the retail and public transport sectors.  Both careers have linked him up with Station Director Ian Perry on separate occasions.

Ian and Jeff worked together at the electrical retailer 'Wigfalls' as recently as 1987, and when Jeff left to explore a new career, he met up with Ian again on the public transport network when Ian was travelling to work at the local hospital radio station at the Derby City General Hospital. Jeff asked where he was going, took an interest, initially visited, and then joined the station for a run which lasted fourteen years, ending in 2002 when Jeff began exploring other interests and projects. Jeff has had a keen interest in radio group operations since it’s 1997 inception and came on-board the management team a few years ago.  He is a firm believer in the values and benefits of real, personality-driven, local radio, and listener choice, elements that the radio group has had since it was created.

Outside of the group, Jeff is a member of the OCKASH TRUST, a group of locals from the villages of Ockbrook and Borrowash, who initially staged a Millennium Festival for the two parishes, continuing to date in the form of a Trust, a registered charity which raises money to benefit the local youngsters of the area. He also enjoys computers and the Internet, national and local football (Jeff rarely missed a Derby County home game between 1968 and 1992, as well as journeying to many away games), spending time with his family, and of course, radio, with the music of the 60s being a firm favourite.  He also provides radio programmes for internet radio station 'Offshore Music Radio.com'.

Jeff is responsible for the press releases sent out locally and the general promotion of the group.  The Erewash Sound radio project was his brainchild some time ago – he is particularly excited that the station is now operating and is passionate about its development, and ultimately, its success.

On-air, you'll find Jeff working on a variety of programmes, including weekday afternoons, The 70s Show along with Mark Bennett, and his very own Solid Gold Sixties Show, where he invites you to take a trip back to the most influential decade of the last century, and you don't even have to get into your Mini, or wear flowers in your hair!
