Programmes (Meet The Team) > Presenters > Sam Hudd
Born
in Derby in 1980, Sam is currently a Graphic Designer at a large national
solicitors based on Pride Park in the City. He took a keen interest in radio
from an early age – at the tender age of 11, he was presenting and producing
pieces for Trent FM on a fortnightly basis. This continued until 1994 when he
made the switch to BBC Radio Derby, assisting in the production elements of
evening weekend programming.
During his time at Radio Derby, Sam also presented and produced a music programme on Radio Cracker, a charity radio station for Derby. That show was presented for two consecutive years. Through his connections at Trent FM, he got involved in a radio station run by Derby Media Training, Reach FM. Here he presented weekend evening shows.
After completing his schooling, Sam studied Broadcast Media at South East Derbyshire College. The College ran a radio station across Erewash every year, in which Sam was a pivotal organiser. In the first year of broadcast, Sam was studio manager, and in the second year, he took the role of Programme Controller. In this position he oversaw 24 hours of programming to an audience that he grew an estimated 60% against figures from the previous year,
In the second and final year at college, Sam saw an advert in the local press looking for volunteers for a community station in Derby. After broadcasting weekly programmes on the station, PRIDE FM, for a period of three broadcasts, in 1999 he was invited to join the station committee (later to become the management team after internal restructure). Since then Sam has been involved in fund-raising, marketing, presenting and the assisting with general management of the radio group.
Sam is the Marketing Director for the radio group and devised the colour scheme, logo and general imagery of the Erewash Sound brand. On-air, you'll find Sam co-presenting the weekday night-time show, The Rhythm Of The Night Show, jam-packed with gags, humour, skits and sketches, great music and of course, his co-presenter, Paul Pounder. Sam can also be heard presenting mainstream music programming on the station.
